Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant showed no mercy to the ankles of Washington Wizards center Daniel Gafford. The image of Gafford face down on the court was resounding.
Durant put Gafford on skates setting him up with a dribble between the legs before dropping him with a push cross. Gafford sprawled out and did a split before nearly face-planting on the court.
The Nets bench went crazy, and so did the Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. It’s nearly criminal what Durant, a native of the DMV area did to a member of his hometown team.
Gafford provided a teachable moment for young defenders. His feet were off-balanced from the start, failing to sit and front of Durant. Meanwhile, Durant displayed how a simple between-the-leg dribble with the right hesitation can set up a defender before delivering a devastating crossover.
