Commanders LB Cole Holcomb out for season after foot surgery

The Washington Commanders’ season will move on without its Mike Linebacker. Cole Holcomb underwent foot surgery and is out for the season, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

Holcomb led the Commanders with 69 tackles through seven games before he landed on injured reserve last week. He has been out for the previous six games.

Despite his absence, the Commanders’ defense has played well. But Holcomb is a big loss for Washington. To make way, the Commanders have relied on a combination of Jamin Davis getting calls from the sidelines and Kam Curl using the helmet communicator.

Cole Holcomb, 26, is expected to fully recover before March as he will become a free agent. Washington drafted Holcomb in the fifth round in 2019. He made 15 starts as a rookie and 48 starts in four seasons with Washington.

It will be interesting to see if his injury affects his future with the Commanders.
