Kevin Durant is known for taking on battles over social media with journalists and fans. However, the Phoenix Suns star may have bitten off more than he can chew with comedian Ryan Davis.
The spat between Durant and Davis started with Durant’s social media post that offense wins championships. That prompted a response from Davis.
“KD just proved why he hasn’t won outside of the Warriors,” Davis responded. “He doesn’t know what wins championships. During the Warriors title run, they were always top 3 in defensive efficiency except KD’s last year there.”
Valid points by Davis, but Durant wasn’t too keen and responded, calling Davis a “trash [expletive] comedian” while pondering how Davis could tell a two-time NBA champion what it takes to win.
Well, Davis fired back with a brutal response to roast Durant during a five-minute video.
Davis noted how the Hall of Famers with the most NBA titles in the modern era of the NBA all had several All-Defensive Team nods compared to Durant.
“You know what Kevin Durant has never had?” Davis continued. “I know you’re thinking waves, and you’re right, but Kevin Durant has never had an All-Defensive selection.
Davis noted Ben Wallace had a Hall of Fame career, averaging just six points in his career, because he played defense.
“But I wouldn’t expect you to know anything about defense because playing defense takes heart. And after you joined the Golden State Warriors, after losing a 3-1 lead to them, we all knew you didn’t have heart.”
Davis also noted how Durant and Russell Westbrook won the NBA scoring title in back-to-back seasons. Yet, the two could not finish off the Warriors up 3-1 in the playoff series in 2016. He noted how Durant shot well below 50% in Game 5 and Game 6, leading to the Warriors’ series comeback. Either the Warriors’ defense locked up Durant, or he is a choke artist.
“You have the nerve to name yourself easymoneysniper, You know what a sniper is? A killer. You know what a sniper is? Accurate. Those are two things you are not whenever a team is depending on you to carry them to victory. You miss everything,” Davis continued.
Ryan Davis threw jokes to jab at Kevin Durant. He noted how the Warriors advanced to the NBA Finals in 2019 despite Durant getting injured. Because Golden State won before and eventually after Durant, just as Draymond Green said during the infamous 2018 incident of the two then-teammates exchanged barbs.
Durant’s social media activity is well-documented. The four-time NBA scoring champion usually drops a savvy and witty response to shut down users. However, Davis won the moment, dropping an anvil response.
