Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has been underrated since the start of his NFL career. In part, he was a third-round draft pick in 2019. He also has gone through musical chairs at quarterback, and the team has struggled for the majority of his career.
After having 918 receiving yards as a rookie, McLaurin has followed with three-straight seasons of over 1,000 yards. He’s recorded at least 77 receptions in each of the last three seasons, despite underwhelming play from his quarterbacks.
He’s become a fan-favorite of Commanders fans. Finally, the star wideout is garnering attention outside of Washington amongst his peers.
This week, McLaurin got named to the NFL’s top 100 players. McLaurin ranked 94th.
Some still won’t be happy with McLaurin being No. 94. They’ll argue it’s not 93 players better than him. However, it’s a start. The recognition shows he’s on the players’ radars.
Terry McLaurin has been a formidable adversary to cornerbacks who matched against him on Sundays.
McLaurin’s best performance may have been his eight catches for 128 yards against the vaunted Philadelphia Eagles secondary in Week 10, as the Commanders handed the Eagles their first loss of the season.
His performance against Green Bay Packers stud cornerback Jaire Alexander stood out.
It’s hard to forget McLaurin’s clutch catch against his hometown Indianapolis Colts over Stephon Gilmore to set up the game-winning touchdown.
There are big expectations for McLaurin going into the 2023 season. His performance last season justified Washington signing him to a $68.2 million, three-year extension. Hopefully, his performance next season will raise him up the rankings for next year’s list.
