As Brock Lesnar did back at WrestleMania 30, the Washington Commanders shocked the NFL world by ending the greatest preseason streak in NFL history.
Placekicker Joey Slye drained a go-ahead, 49-yard field goal with nine seconds remaining to give the Commanders a 29-28 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
The win by the Commanders snapped the Ravens’ NFL-record 24 straight preseason wins. Therefore, Washington’s social media went into its bag to post the perfect response to ending the streak.
The Commanders chose to post the moment WWE superstar Brock Lesnar ended the Undertaker’s undefeated WrestleMania streak. They even included the infamous fan’s reaction to the shocking outcome.
Yes, the Commanders’ win was jaw-dropping. But it’s not shocking to one guy. Similar to Lesnar’s advocate Paul Heyman warned nine years ago, Washington’s offensive lineman Sam Cosmi called his shot that the streak was going to end.
“It’s a stupid record. Who gives a [expletive] about preseason games? If we beat it? Great. We’re gonna beat it, so there you go.”
WWE fans can relate that Cosmi didn’t provide a prediction, he gave us a spoiler.
