Jahmir Young earns another opportunity for NBA after strong Summer League

Former Maryland Terrapins standout guard Jahmir Young has achieved a significant milestone in his basketball career by signing an Exhibit-10 contract with the Denver Nuggets. Young will participate in Denver’s training camp. He also has an opportunity to play for the Nuggets G-League affiliate, The Grand Rapid Gold.

Jahmir Young is coming off a great senior season at Maryland. Young was third in the Big Ten Conference in scoring with 20.4 points per game. He shot 40.4% from the field, including 32.4% from three-point range.

Young played with the Nuggets during the NBA2k5 Summer League in Las Vegas. He started with limited playing time. In his first two games, he averaged nine minutes. Young showed a glimpse of his best abilities despite playing in limited minutes.

Young dominated during the Nuggets’ fourth game as he was given a bigger opportunity. Young put on a show with 18 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while shooting 5-of-8 from the field in 26 minutes. He was a key contributor off the bench, helping the Nuggets to an 86-71 victory.

Young closed out Summer League play with 21 points and five assists in 32 minutes. His efforts led the Nuggets to a 91-82 win over the New Orleans Pelicans.

Signing with the Nuggets represents another opportunity and chapter in Young’s professional career. He’ll get an invaluable opportunity to compete for a roster spot with Denver or secure a two-way contract, allowing him to further develop in the G-League.
