After holding out all preseason without landing a contract, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase had a frustrating first two weeks of the season. He was limited to ten catches and 97 yards. However, playing against one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL could get him right. And it took Chase no time to get right — the opening drive.
Chase got matched against Commanders rookie cornerback Mike Sainristil one-on-one with a single-high safety look. Despite playing off, Chase ate the cushion up, flying past the Michigan product.
Bengals quarterback threw the ball out in front with air to allow Chase to walk under it for the easy 41-yard touchdown.
The score is Chase’s longest reception of the season.
Ja’Marr Chase benefits from the return of Tee Higgins
The Cincinnati Bengals are looking for their first win of the season after losing the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs by seven combined points.
The Bengals had to go through two games without their other star wide receiver, Tee Higgins, who dealt with a hamstring injury. As a result, Chase faced a lot of double teams and shell coverage.
Higgins returned for Monday’s game. And the moment the Commanders went with coverage in large because of Higgins’ presence, Burrow and Chase took full advantage with an electric touchdown.
