Brian Robinson quiets concern over knee with two first-half TDs

Washington Commanders running back Brian Robinson put concerns over his knee to rest with two first-half touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns. Robinson was listed as questionable after he missed practice Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday.

However, he was “good to go” by Sunday’s game. While his touches are limited, Robinson’s hard running proved beneficial with two red zone scores.

The first touchdown was set up by great field position after Olamide Zaccheaus took a return to the Browns’ 34-yard-line. The Commanders used their running back duo of Robinson and Austin Ekeler when they needed them most.

First, Ekeler burst through for a 10-yard run to the 4-yard line on 4th-and-2. On the next snap, Robinson barreled through for the touchdown to give Washington a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.

Then, with Washington leading 10-3 in the second quarter, the Commanders converted another 4th-and-short with a huge run, this time on the legs of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. Daniels scrambled off the right edge for a 34-yard gain on 4th-and-3 before Clinton, Maryland native Rodney McLeod pushed him out of bounds at the six-yard line.

A defensive holding penalty on Denzel Ward set Washington up at the 3-yard line. On his second chance, Robinson pushed it into the end zone.

Brian Robinson was questionable over the weekend. Instead, he got two touchdowns on the day, pushing his total to five rushing scores on the season. The Commanders took a 24-3 lead into halftime.
