The Washington Wizards have announced in a statement the organization will undergo a self-quarantine following the cornavirus diagnosis of Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.
“Under the direction of team and MedStar medical staff, the Washington Wizards have advised players, coaches and basketball operations personnel to self-quarantine for the next three to four days. The decision was made with an abundance of caution due to the team’s recent game schedule, which saw them play at Utah on Feb. 29 and against New York (who played Utah on Mar. 4) on Mar. 10.”
The Wizards played against Gobert and the Jazz in Utah on Feb. 29.
The NBA suspended the regular season on Wednesday after the league learned of Gobert’s diagnosis.
In a corresponding move, the Washington Capitals announced the team has cancelled their morning practice at the MedStar Iceplex.
