Washington RB Antonio Gibson misses practice with shoulder injury

Rookie running back Antonio Gibson headlines the first injury report of Week 10 for the Washington Football Team. Gibson did not practice Wednesday with a shoulder injury.

Focus this week will be on Gibson’s shoulder. He has emerged as the featured back in offensive coordinator Scott Turner’s system. Gibson leads the team in rushing with 391 yards and five touchdowns on 90 carries. He also added 22 catches for 182 yards.

The closest utilized running back is JD McKissic, who just over half the touches of Gibson with 69. McKissic has been most effective as a third-down back. Washington also has Peyton Barber, but is coming off playing just one snap in last week’s loss to the New York Giants and is averaging a meager 2.1 yards per carry.

Running back Bryce Love did return to practice but he remains on injured reserve list with a knee injury. However, Washington has up to 21 days to decide whether to activate him off IR or keep him on the list for the remainder of the season.

Another injury to keep an eye on is kicker Dustin Hopkins. He was limited with a groin injury. Washington protected practice squad kicker Kaare Vedvik this week, seemingly for insurance against Hopkins’ injury.
