The struggles of the Washington Football Team defense has been a point of emphasis this season. Sunday facing the New Orleans Saints, those struggles were laminated on a Jameis Winston Hail Mary.
On the final play of the first half, the Saints executed a perfect play with no timeouts. Winston perfectly placed his Hail Mary throw to Marquez Callaway for a 49-yard touchdown.
It’s hard to place blame on one particular player. The coverage and effort was lacking all around. Bobby McCain was out of position. Landon Collins was trailing and just about everyone else was stuck in time.
The Winston prayer gave the Saints a 20-13 lead at the half.
