The Washington Redskins met with Auburn quarterback Jarrett Stidham Thursday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Stidham is rated as the No. 8 quarterback for the 2019 NFL Draft, according to CBS Sports.

The Redskins are set to meet with just about all the top quarterback prospects for the draft. Meeting with Stidham, however, shows the team is considering selecting a quarterback beyond the first round. He is projected to be selected anywhere from the second to fourth round.

Stidham entered the 2018 season as a potential first-round pick candidate. However, he struggled in his second and final season as Auburn’s starter. His completion percentage dropped from 66.5 to 60.7 in 2018 from the 2017 season. An NFC team’s scout pointed Stidham playing in a “really dysfunctional offense,” that included a struggling offensive line and wide receivers who couldn’t get open.

Stidham threw for 2,794 yards and 18 touchdowns with five interceptions in 13 games in 2018. He threw for 3,158 yards and 18 touchdowns with six interceptions in 14 games in 2017.

The Redskins met with Missouri QB Drew Lock on Wednesday. They’re reportedly set to meet with Duke QB Daniel Jones next week. They are expected to meet with the top quarterbacks for the draft.

The Redskins currently possess the 15th pick overall in this year’s draft. They are presumably looking for a long-term solution at quarterback in wake of the serious broken leg by Alex Smith that may jeopardize his playing future.

Washington is evaluating the top quarterback prospects for the draft, despite acquiring Case Keenum.
