The Washington Capitals are the 2018 Stanley Cup champions after clinching the NHL title in Game 5 Thursday night in Vegas. The crown is the first-ever for the Capitals franchise and the first major sports title in 26 years for the nation’s capital, Washington D.C. There was a lot of emotion on the ice of T-Mobile Arena, jubilation, laughs, and tears. Some for joy and others for reflection, including Capitals forward T.J. Oshie.

During a postgame interview with Scott Oake, Oshie got emotional reflecting on his father Tim, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. (Warning: NSFW language)

Both father and son embraced on the ice, and while there is certainly some bad days for both Tim and T.J. this is a great memory that will be etched in stone for Oshie family.

T.J. Oshie scored eight goals and had 21 points during the Stanley Cup playoffs.
