Washington cuts XFL offensive lineman one day after signing

The Washington Football Team waived offensive tackle Cole Boozer one day after the team signed the former DC Defender.

Boozer walked out of his first practice on Sunday, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. He was then led off the field and did not return. Boozer was out on the field for five minutes before his exit.

Washington Football Team head coach Ron Rivera said Boozer did not know the offense and the coaches did not want to expose him right away.

However, that opportunity to coach him up won’t come to fruition as Washington is already moving on from Boozer. Boozer became a fan favorite with XFL fans as a member of the DC Defenders after a stint in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Unfortunately, his second crack at the NFL ended before it got started.

Washington is already loaded at offensive tackle. Charles Leno Jr. is expected to start at left tackle while Cornelius Lucas and rookie Sam Cosmi are vying for the starting right tackle position. Washington also has David Sharpe, Saahdiq Charles and Ereck Flowers who add versatility along the offensive line.
