The Washington Wizards acquired forward Davis Bertans from the San Antonio Spurs in a three-team trade with the Brooklyn Nets.

The deal was initiated through a sign-and-trade for DeMarre Carroll, previously of the Nets. The Wizards are sending the rights of Aaron White, a second-round pick in 2015, to the Nets. The Spurs are sending the Nets, the rights of Nemanja Dangubic, as well.

Bertans, a 6-foot-10 native of Lativa, can stretch the floor with his ability to make outside shots. Last season, he shot 42.9% from three with 4.4 attempts per game. He averaged 8.0 points, and 3.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 21.5 minutes per game in 76 games for San Antonio.

It was against the Wizards, Bertans scored a season-high 21 points, making five treys, in a Jan. 27 matchup.

The Wizards will gain the bird right’s of the 26-year old, who is in the final year of a two-year deal worth $14 million.

The Wizards appear to be in a rebuild surrounding Bradley Beal. With the additions of CJ Miles, Bertans is expected to boost the Washington’s three-point shooting and spacing for Beal and newly acquired point guards Isaiah Thomas and Ish Smith to operate and create offense with.

It’s been a busy summer for the Wizards, who lost Tomas Satoransky, Trevor Ariza, and Bobby Portis to free agency. They also traded away veteran Dwight Howard to the Memphis Grizzlies to acquire Miles.
