Georgetown snapped a four-game losing streak, as the Hoyas pulled off an 83-80 upset win over Seton Hall behind a clutch three pointer from Marcus Derrickson. The 6-foot-7 junior had ice in his veins as the waning seconds ticked off the clock.

Derrickson slipped deep to the top. As Jagan Mosley found him, he pulled up from NBA range to drain the pivotal trey while being fouled by the Pirates’ Kahdeen Carrington with 4.0 seconds remaining.

Derrickson would miss the free throw, but the Hoyas held on for the win after a missed desperation three from Myles Powell. The win improves Georgetown to 4-9 in the Big East and 14-10 overall. Derrickson’s three put an exclamation point on an awesome game in which he finished with a team-high 22 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds.

Georgetown recovered from blowing a 17-point lead. The Hoyas have struggled to close out game as well as games decided by six points or less or headed into overtime. Saturday’s win improves them to 4-6 in such games in Patrick Ewing’s first season as his alma mater’s head coach.
