Su’a Cravens wants back into the National Football League. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Cravens has officially applied for reinstatement off the reserve/left off squad list.

The Washington Redskins placed Cravens on the reserve/left squad list in September after the safety contemplated retirement. Details emerged as Cravens posted a heartfelt message on social media. Cravens told teammates that he was walking away from the game of football just days before the 2017 season was to begin.

The Redskins front office, mainly team president Bruce Allen, talked Cravens into thinking over his options before making any final decision. Meanwhile, Cravens’ heart and intentions were questioned.

In December, Cravens’ agent, Fadde Mikhai, issued a statement saying his client was recovered from post-concussion syndrome and yearned for a return to football in 2018.

If he is reinstated, Cravens’ will count against the Redskins’ 90-man roster. In his absence in 2017, the Redskins started Montae Nicholson, Deshazor Everett, and DeAngelo Hall at safety opposite of D.J. Swearinger, who started all 16 games. As the Redskins look to retool this off-season, safety is one of their positions of interest.
