Maryland Extends Lead over Illinois with 46-yard TD Reception by Jahrvis Davenport

Execution is the best friend for a struggling passing game, and offense for that matter. The Maryland Terrapins had near perfect execution on a drive that went 93 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter against Illinois. The drive was capped by a 46-yard touchdown pass from redshirt freshman quarterback Kasim Hill to senior wide receiver Jahrvis Davenport.

Facing a 3rd and 3, Davenport got open flashing off a drag route. Hill put the pass in front for Davenport run up underneath for the grab. As Davenport turned to go up field, he got sprung loose by a thunderous block by wide receiver Jeshaun Jones.

From there Davenport won the footrace against defensive back Cameron Watkins down the sideline for the score. Maryland now has eight passing touchdowns on the season — seven by Hill.

Davenport now has two receiving touchdowns on the season. The score also extended Maryland’s lead to 14-3.
