Maryland unveils new sleek all-black Script uniforms

In April, the Maryland football program announced the return of a modern version of its popular script uniforms and helmets as its primary threads. On Tuesday, the program unveiled an all-black alternative uniform that will certainly melt the heart of Terrapins fans.

Maryland will debut the new sleek all-black uniforms and helmet on Friday, September 15 against old-ACC rival Virginia in a “Black Out” game at SECU Stadium.

Maryland first donned the red script uniforms in 1982. It was still a favorable choice until the team went from the design in 2011 under Under Armour. The Terrapins had several uniforms recently, but fans clamored for a return to the script.

Ultimately, Maryland and Under Armour opted to embrace the tradition harkening to the days of legendary coaches Buddy Ross and Ralph Friedgen. Current Terps head coach Mike Locksley can make his own history in the two script uniforms.

Locksley said last month at the Big Ten Media Days that Maryland is at the point they can compete for Big Ten championships. One thing is for sure, they’ll look good trying.
