Maryland Twitter delivers epic troll to Texas’ Longhorn Network

All throughout social media, sports teams and entities have been sharing a logo (both old and current) asking the “First player you think of when you see this logo?”

Recently, the Longhorn Network, home to the University of Texas, asked the viral question. However, one of the responses they received wasn’t one any Longhorns fans would expect.

The official Twitter page of the Maryland Terrapins swooped in on the opportunity to troll the Texas football team, showing a highlight video of Maryland wide receiver Jeshaun Jones against the Longhorns.

The highlight reel is from the Terrapins and Longhorns’ meeting in 2018 at FedEx Field, the home of the Washington Redskins. In the game, Jones, then a freshman, made his collegiate debut by running, catching and throwing a touchdown all in the first half.

Jones’ efforts gave Maryland a 24-7 early lead which they held on to, beating Texas 34-29.

The breakout game was one of Maryland’s strongest individual performances in recent years. Coincidentally, that was Maryland’s second straight win over Texas, as they beat the Longhorns 51-41 in Austin in 2017 season opener.

Some may believe with their troll tweet, Maryland is on a three-game winning streak against Texas.
