Redskins’ Jack Del Rio causes controversy with tweet supporting Donald Trump

The Twitter activity of Washington Redskins defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio has stirred a great deal of controversy, highlighted by an apparent tweet in support of the controversial President of the United States Donald Trump.

The tweet drew support of some fans and the ire of others. The tweet also grabbed the attention of a former coach, former NBA coach George Karl, who asked an interesting question in response.

Del Rio wasn’t finished raising eyebrows on Twitter. He liked two controversial tweets from pronounced conservative figures — Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens. Kirk called protesters “rioters and criminals” and Owens referred to the alleged noose incident involving NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace.

Del Rio also retweeted two more controversial tweets that included a fabricated image of a tweet from New York rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

It will be interesting to see if Jack Del Rio elaborates on his Twitter activity in the near future.

The Redskins hired Del Rio in January to run their defense. Fans will debate Del Rio’s tweets, summarizing them into his political views.

Meanwhile, what will be the reaction, if any, from Redskins players, especially those whom play on defense?
