Redskins WR Emanuel Hall Suffers torn Achilles during workout

Washington Redskins wide receiver Emanuel Hall announced Saturday he suffered a torn Achilles during an offseason workout and will miss the upcoming 2020 season.

According to his Instagram, Hall suffered the injury while running routes last month.

Hall signed to the Redskins’ practice squad in December and a reserve/futures contract at the end of the season. He previously was with the Chicago Bears during the 2019 training camp and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ practice squad.

Hall’s absence may not seem significant on the surface. But, the second-year pro had an opportunity to make a splash through training camp and preseason with the Redskins’ unproven wide receiver corps.

At 6-foot-3, Hall has blazing speed. He ran a 4.39 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine. His height and speed could have presented a deep threat complement to Washington’s receiving group led by Terry McLaurin on the outside and Steven Sims Jr in the slot.

Still, making the 53-man roster for the 2020 regular season would have been a long shot. Hall went undrafted in the 2019 NFL Draft despite being a fourth-round grade in large due to injuries throughout his collegiate career at Missouri. The latest injury will another roadblock for his playing career.
