Report: Washington Football hires Attorney to review organization’s protocols

The Washington football team has hired DC attorney Beth Wilkinson to “review the organization’s protocols,” according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Schefter adds the team is “upset” and “frustrated” over speculations surrounding the highly anticipated story set to be released. The Washington Post is expected to break a story Friday, highlighting a troubling culture within the team.

Early Thursday morning, Josina Anderson, formerly of ESPN, reported “lawyers are involved” in the sensationalized story.

Wilkinson represented four aides of Hillary Clinton in 2016 during the FBI’s investigation of Clinton’s private email server. Wilkinson also represented Federal Judge Emmet G. Sullivan to defend his actions in the Mike Flynn case. Now she will be spearheading a deep dive into Washington football’s past culture.

The team fired two front office executives, Alex Santos and Richard Mann II, earlier this week. Longtime play-by-play voice Larry Michael abruptly retired after 16 years with the team. It’s unclear at this moment if the departures are related to the Washington Post’s bombshell story.

Over the past two weeks the team dropping the Redskins’ name and logo has been the biggest story surrounding the franchise. However, rumors suggest a name change pales in comparison to the anvil the Washington Post is set to drop.
