Derrius Guice cleared for 2020 season

Washington Football Team running back Derrius Guice says he is cleared for the 2020 NFL season. Guice announced the news via Twitter Monday.

Guice is hoping his third season in the NFL will be much better than the first two seasons. He missed 11 games last season due to two knee injuries. He tore his meniscus in his right knee in the season opener against Philadelphia.

Guice returned to play four more games for Washington before suffering an MCL injury that shut down his season.

Guice has played just five games since being drafted in 2018 in the second round. He missed his entire rookie season after tearing his ACL in his left knee during a preseason game.

Guice being healthy strengthens Washington’s deep running back group. The group is led by ageless veteran Adrian Peterson, who has led Washington in rushing the past two seasons.

Washington also added JD McKissic and Peyton Barber in free agency. Additionally, they drafted Antonio Gibson in the third round of this year’s draft. Derrius Guice is expected to compete for one of the top two spots on the running back depth chart.
