The Washington Football Team has scrubbed references to their old name and logo, including their former hashtag #HTTR. Washington initially announced their new social media hashtag would be #1932
Unfortunately, #1932, the year the franchise was established, does not meet Twitter guidelines. Twitter requires a hashtag to contain at least one letter.
So, Washington has turned to their fans to help them decide a more suitable hashtag.
Hard to imagine a branding department for a organization worth $3.4 billion weren’t aware of guidelines ahead of making such an announcement. But, the good news is the team is including input from their fan base.
Washington is going through a re-branding, opting for the temporary name of “Washington Football Team” for the 2020 season at least. The team has new helmets, removed murals and references of their former name from their facilities and other digital platforms.
It appears #HTTR is no longer, at least in referring to Washington Football Team. With that said, it’s will be interesting to see what the team officially settles with.
