Juan Soto stares down Braves’ Will Smith before epic bat flip

Juan Soto and Atlanta Braves reliever Will Smith never faced each other before. Yet, now the two appear to have beef with one another after Soto hammered a solo home run off Smith in the ninth inning of Monday’s game.

Soto blasted his seventh home run in 12 games. This one traveled 445 feet to center. But that’s not what will steal the headlines. Soto stared down Smith before flipping the bat.

Smith was none too pleased, as he yelled a NSFW response to the 21-year old as he started his trout around the bases.

It will be interesting to hear what ignited Soto’s stare down. That was their first matchup against each other. Could it be something that was said prior? The heat of the Nationals-Braves rivalry? Or maybe Soto was overzealous and feeling being the reigning NL Player of the Week?

One thing is for sure, Soto made no friend of Smith. This is also certain to rile up the baseball traditionalists who will speak of some unwritten baseball rule the Nationals’ slugger violated.
