The Washington Football Team may have been dealt a significant blow. Defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis is done for the season with a torn bicep, according to multiple reports.
Ioannadis suffered the injury in the second quarter of Sunday’s loss to the Cleveland Browns. Rookie defensive end Chase Young also exited the game in the second quarter with a groin injury.
On a talented defensive line that features five first-round picks, Ioannadis, a fifth-round pick in 2016, has stood out as Washington’s best interior pass rusher. Last season he led the team with 8.5 sacks.
This season, Ioannadis was in the first of a three-year, $21.75 million extension he signed last year. He had 1.5 of Washington’s NFC-leading 13 sacks before his injury.
