Washington rookie defensive end Chase Young has been officially ruled out of Sunday’s game vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Young suffered a strained groin in last week’s loss against the Cleveland Browns. He did not practice at all this week.
The No. 2 overall pick leads the team with 2.5 sacks. While Washington has tremendous depth along the defensive line that features four other first-round picks, Young’s physical attributes puts him ahead of the group.
Wide receiver Steven Sims Jr. is also out for Washington with a toe injury. This is the second week he has been hampered by the injury. He was limited against the Browns last week and did not practice this week.
Losing slot wide receiver could be huge for Washington. But, more concerning for the offense is the health of Terry McLaurin. The star wide receiver is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game with a thigh injury. He first appeared on the injury report Thursday.
McLaurin has been a favorite target of quarterback Dwayne Haskins. McLaurin leads the team with 25 targets, 16 catches and 269 receiving yards. His 174 yards after the catch is most among all NFL wide receivers.
Other injuries: Linebacker Cole Holcomb (knee) is out for the third straight game. Pass rusher Ryan Anderson (knee). right tackle Morgan Moses (hip) and linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis (illness) are listed as questionable.
