Washington activates 21-day practice window on Brandon Scherff

The Washington Football Team could be getting some re-enforcement soon along their offensive line. Three-time Pro Bowl right guard Brandon Scherff will return to practice Wednesday.

Scherff has missed the last three games while on injured reserve with a sprained MCL. He suffered the knee injury when teammate right tackle Morgan Moses blocked an Arizona Cardinals defender into Scherff’s leg.

Washington now has 21 days to decide to activate Scherff off or keep him on IR for the remainder of the season.

Scherff, who is playing this year on a $15.03 million franchise tag, has missed 16 games since 2018 due to various injuries.

Wes Schweitzer has done good replacing Scherff. However, Washington is averaging a mere 70 yards rushing in three games without Scherff and just 3.6 yards per carry.

Last week, quarterbacks Kyle Allen and Alex Smith were sacked eight times collectively in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams. Washington, who is 1-4 on the season but just one game behind first place in the NFC East, would get a boost getting Scherff back.
