Dwayne Haskins not at practice due to illness

Dwayne Haskins continues to be hampered by an illness that kept him from Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. The Washington Football Team quarterback is not at the team’s first practice of the week Wednesday.

According to Nicki Jhabvala of the Washington Post, Haskins was at the team’s facility this morning to undergo routine COVID-19 testing before being sent home. The illness is believed to be unrelated to the coronavirus.

Haskins started the first four games of the season, but was benched and demoted to third string quarterback behind Kyle Allen and Alex Smith. He was going to be inactive against the Rams nonetheless, but did not attend the game due to the illness after being advised by the team to stay home.

Rumors have surfaced that Haskins could be traded ahead of this season’s trade deadline. He has possibly fallen out of favor with head coach Ron Rivera. However, right now the focus is on the quarterback getting healthy in the near future.
