Washington Football Team quarterback Dwayne Haskins is back in team meetings and expected to practice Friday, according to John Keim of ESPN.
Haskins, who was benched as starting quarterback last week, has been bothered by an illness that forced him not to attend last week’s loss to the Los Angeles Rams and miss practice Wednesday and Thursday.
The illness was not related to COVID-19. Haskins had reported to the team facility each day to take his mandated COVID-19 tests. However, he was sent home each day per NFL’s protocols.
Questions amounted about Haskins’ status with the team, as his illness kept him away from the team shortly after his benching from starter to third string behind Kyle Allen and Alex Smith.
Thursday, Washington head coach Ron Rivera clarified Haskins’ absence was not a distraction to the team.
Rivera also reiterated he has “not quit” on Haskins as reports surface there is a “possibility” Haskins could play again for Washington this year. Getting healthy and returning back to practice is the first step for the second-year QB.
