Taulia Tagovailoa’s third TD pass gives Maryland 28-7 at half

Taulia Tagovailoa is off to another great start for the second straight week. The Maryland quarterback tossed two-first quarter touchdowns to freshman wide receiver Rakim Jarrett, helping the Terrapins to an early 14-0 lead over Penn State.

Then with less than a minute before halftime, Tagovailoa found a wide open Dontay Demus for an easy 35-yard touchdown pass to extend Maryland’s lead to 28-7.

Tagovailoa was 14-of-19 for 246 yards and three touchdowns in the first half.

Maryland outgained the Nittany Lions 335 yards to 144. The Terrapins offense was an impressive 8-of-10 on third down. It’s a far cry to what Maryland has been used to in it’s rivalry against Penn State. In the previous three meetings between the schools, Maryland scored a combined six points. The Terrapins have 28 points in the first half of Saturday’s contest.

Maryland is coming off a stunning 45-44 overtime win over Minnesota. Penn State is trying to avoid an 0-3 start for the first time since 2001.
