Washington Football Team rookie offensive lineman Saahdiq Charles will undergo season-ending knee surgery, according to Ben Standig of The Athletic.
Charles suffered a dislocated knee cap two snaps into his NFL debut back in Week 6 against the New York Giants. Washington placed him on injured reserve Oct. 24. There was hope he could return in this season after rehabbing. However, surgery was necessary to address a ligament associated with the injury.
The timetable for his recovery is 2-4 months. Having the surgery now allows him to be ready in time for training camp next season.
This ends an injury-plagued rookie season for Charles. A fourth-round draft pick this year out of LSU, Charles missed a portion of training camp with a calf injury. Then, a thigh injury led to him being inactive for the first five games of the season.
