Washington LB Kevin Pierre-Louis fined $15k for hit on Matthew Stafford

The NFL has fined Washington linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis $15,000 for his illegal hit on Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. The hit occurred late in the first quarter of last week’s game.

Pierre-Louis was penalized for lowering his helmet and hitting Stafford as Washington linebacker Jon Bostic was tackling the quarterback below. The hit jarred Stafford’s helmet off his head.

Stafford also injured his thumb on the play. He was diagnosed with a partial ligament tear in his right thumb. Despite the injury, he remained in the game against Washington. He is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers.

Pierre-Louis is the second Washington linebacker this season to be fined for a hit that injured a quarterback. Bostic was fined $12,000 for his hit on Dallas Cowboys quarterback Andy Dalton in Week 7. Dalton suffered a concussion.
