Troy Apke will start at free safety in place of injured Deshazor Everett

The Washington Football Team announced Troy Apke will start at free safety Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Deshazor Everett, who started the last four games at free safety, is inactive for the game with a high-ankle sprain.

Apke started the first five games of the season after surprisingly beating out Sean Davis in training camp. Davis was released just ahead of the regular season. However, Apke struggled and was benched in favor of Everett ahead of Week 6.

Washington signed defensive back Cole Luke from their practice squad to a two-year deal on Saturday. Luke will be active against the Bengals and serve as the backup and insurance to Apke.

Luke has some familiarity to Washington head coach Ron Rivera, playing the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers under Rivera.

Other notable Washington inactives include left tackle Cornelius Lucas (ankle), defensive end Ryan Anderson (knee) and wide receiver Dontrelle Inman (hamstring).

Morgan Moses will shift from right tackle to start at left tackle in place of Lucas. David Sharpe will start at right tackle. Wide receiver Cam Sims will start his fourth consecutive game in place of Inman.

Additionally, linebacker Thomas Davis Sr. will be active for the first time since Week 5.
