Dwayne Haskins and agent mutually part ways

Dwayne Haskins’ era in Washington came to an end on Monday, when the team waived him less than two seasons after drafting him in the first round. The former Washington quarterback is now a free agent after going unclaimed on waivers. While searching for a new NFL home, he’ll do so with a new agent.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Haskins and agent David Mulugheta have mutually parted ways.

It’s unclear what went into either parties decision to end their professional relationship. But, Mulugheta released a statement saying a fresh start would be in Haskins’ best interest.

Haskins has struggled on the field with his play as well as off the field. The combination led to his quick demise in Washington.

Haskins was 3-10 as a starter in Washington. He completed 60.1% of his passes for 2,804, 12 touchdowns and 14 interceptions with 74.4 quarterback rating in 16 career games.

This season he was fined twice for violating COVID-19 protocols. The latest was a result of attending a party with strippers in attendance while not wearing a mask. After another dreadful start last week against the Carolina Panthers, Washington head coach Ron Rivera decided it was best to release the 2019 first-round pick despite the team going into Week 17 with a chance to win the NFC East division.

Any new potential agent will have to help rebuilding Haskins’ reputation. Right now, the 23-year old is labeled as a first-round bust, one of the biggest in recent NFL history.

Fortunately, despite going unclaimed on waivers, teams have reportedly already expressed interest Haskins, including the Carolina Panthers.
