Nationals game against Braves Monday reportedly postponed amid coronavirus outbreak

Monday’s game between the Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals in DC has been postponed, according to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic. The Nationals are aiming to play the Braves Tuesday.

The Nats have yet to play this season. Their opening series against the New York Mets was postponed entirely after four Nationals players tested positive for the coronavirus this past week. An additional seven players and two staff members are under MLB COVID-19 protocols after being deemed close contacts.

Washington was hoping to have at least one team workout before starting their season, according to Jesse Dougherty of the Washington Post. Due to their circumstances they have had zero workouts since Mar. 29.

If their season does start Tuesday, the Nationals are expected to be without four players, Kyle Schwarber, Jon Lester, Josh Harrison and Alex Avila. It’s unclear if their absences are related to COVID-19 as the team has yet to make an announcement of what players have contracted the coronavirus.
