Morgan Moses reportedly visiting Chicago Bears Tuesday

Morgan Moses played seven seasons with the Washington Football Team. He made 96 consecutive starts, starting in every game since the start of the 2015 season. However, the team opted to move in another direction by releasing the veteran right tackle last month.

Now, Moses is a free agent in search of a new NFL home. Moses is visiting the Chicago Bears Tuesday, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. Rapoport adds Moses visited the New York Jets last week and he may make more visits before signing a new deal.

The visit to the Bears is intriguing. Last month, the Bears released starting left tackle Charles Leno Jr. after seven seasons. Leno ultimately signed with Washington. Along with the drafting of Samuel Cosmi, Leno’s addition made Moses expendable for Washington.

If Moses were to sign with Chicago it would be a virtual trade. Both Moses and Leno were part of the 2014 NFL draft class. Moses a third-round pick out of Virginia for Washington. Leno was a seventh-round pick for Chicago out of Boise State.

While Leno has the lone Pro Bowl nod among the two, Moses has been considered the better of the two. Moses was the sixth-highest graded right tackle in 2020, according to Pro Football Focus.

PFF rated Cornelius Lucas, who started eight games at left tackle for Washington last season, slightly higher than Leno.

Nonetheless, Moses should attract interest as teams move closer to training camp. He developed into a bookend offensive tackle and a vocal leader while in Washington. Last season he slid to left tackle for two games due to injuries across Washington’s offensive line.

Someone will sign him. At the age of 30, Moses will get the opportunity to prove his worth and continue his pro career.
