No concerns about Chase Young missing OTAs after latest video working out

The Washington Football Team had voluntary OTAs last week with four players absent, Chase Young, Montez Sweat, Charles Leno Jr. and Steven Sims Jr. Three of the four absentees reported to Week 2 of OTAs. The lone exception? The 2020 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Chase Young.

However, there are no concerns the defensive end will report to minicamp next week not in shape. Young posted a video of him working out on his own, and he looks already in offseason shape.

It’s important to note the practices the past two weeks are all voluntary. But, there is an applauding deserved for everyone but one notable absent.

Leno missed the first week as his wife recently had the couple’s second child. Despite not being present last week, Sweat was expected to be in Ashburn at some point. Sims coming in is good. There was no explanation to him not being there in Week 1.

Sims is the only of the four that roster spot is in question going into training camp. Washington added a plethora of wide receivers this offseason, including veterans Curtis Samuel and Adam Humphries as well as drafting Dyami Brown and Dax Milne.

As for Chase Young, it appears he will be ready to go when mini-camp starts next week. He’ll be looking to build off his DROY campaign with a strong year 2 in the NFL.
