Promising update on Washington RB Antonio Gibson’s status vs. Falcons

Washington Football team running back Antonio Gibson traveled with the team to Atlanta on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s game against the Falcons, according to ESPN’s John Keim. Adam Schefter adds that Gibson is expected to play barring a setback.

Gibson is listed as questionable for the game with a shin injury. He did not practice on Thursday. But, he was limited on Friday.

Washington head coach Ron Rivera seemed confident Gibson would be able to play this week. He did admit how Gibson felt Saturday would go a long way into his playing status.

Defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis also traveled with the team, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. He has been nursing a knee injury that forced him to miss last week’s loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Washington did not promote any players from the practice squad this week. That’s another promising sign that Gibson and Ioannidis may be up to playing.

Gibson leads the team with 190 yards rushing. He has also been a contributor in the passing game. Last week against Buffalo he took a screen pass 73 yards for a touchdown. Getting him on the field will be a huge boost to the running game.
