Washington Football Team inactives vs. Falcons

Washington Football Team running back Antonio Gibson (shin) is active for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons. It was expected he would play barring a pre-game setback, which apparently was not the case.

It will be interesting how many snaps he plays. He did not practice Thursday and was limited Friday. If there is any decrease in snaps, JD McKissic is sure to get an increase along with his normal third-down duties.

Could we see more from undrafted rookie Jaret Patterson on the offense? He’s only played four offensive snaps this season with two carries and nine yards.

Meanwhile, defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis (knee) will be active. He missed last week’s game against the Buffalo Bills, but he is ready to rejoin his defensive linemen group on the field in Atlanta.

However, rookie cornerback Benjamin St-Juste (concussion) will not play as expected. He is inactive after suffering a concussion in last week’s game in Buffalo. Tory McTyer is expected to get an increase in snaps in St-Juste’s absence.

Veteran Darryl Roberts will be active for the first time this season coincidentally.

Other inactives include rookie wide receiver Dax Milne. Big free agent pickup Curtis Samuel will take the field for the first time this season. He missed the first three games while on injured reserve with a groin injury.

With Samuel back, Milne was the odd man out. Samuel’s return will also shake up the snap distributions for wide receivers Adam Humphries, Cam Sims and rookie Dyami Brown. It will be interesting to see how that shapes out.

The Falcons inactives include wide receiver Russell Gage. He’ll miss his second straight game with an ankle injury. Look for running back/wide receiver Cordelle Patterson to be more involved in the passing game. Also rookie tight end Kyle Pitts should get some secondary target looks behind Calvin Ridley.
