Washington Nationals star slugger Juan Soto was front row of Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, rooting on a pair of his former teammates, Max Scherzer and Trea Turner.
Soto was dressed in a Trea Turner Nationals jersey. He was accompanied by his agent Scott Boras and Nats hitting coach Kevin Long. Erica Scherzer, the wife of Max Scherer, was also spotted in pictures hanging around the old friend.
As the game started, Soto was shown on the video board of the stadium. Unfortunately, Dodgers fans serenaded the 2020 NL Batting champion with boos. That is until he pointed to his Turner jersey that changed the mood of the moment.
Two Octobers ago Juan Soto, Max Scherzer and Trea Turner were winning the World Series as teammates with the Washington Nationals. The bond of their brotherhood has been noted through the years.
After a pandemic-shortened year in 2020 and a disappointing start in 2021, the Nationals brass broke up that bond. A fire sale that sent both Scherzer and Turner to the Los Angeles Dodgers before the July 30 trade deadline.
The Nationals are now headed into a rebuild, hopefully around the MVP-talents of Soto. They finished this season with a 65-97 record, good for last in the NL East. That’s despite the MVP numbers of Soto.
Meanwhile, Turner and Scherzer will look to survive the Cardinals and try to win their second World Series rings in three years, this time in Dodgers Blue.
