The Washington Football Team has placed assistant athletic trainer Doug Quon on administrative leave, according to John Keim of ESPN.
Last week Washington placed head athletic trainer Ryan Vermillion on administrative leave pending an investigation involving prescription drugs’ distributions by the Drug Enforcement Agency. DEA agents raided the team’s practice facility in Ashburn, Virginia as well as Vermillion’s home nearby.
Vermillion had spent 18 years with the Carolina Panthers, spending nine with Ron Rivera. He came over with Rivera to Washington in 2020.
It’s unclear if Quon’s placement on leave is related to the case. He was absent from practice late into the week, according to Keim.
Wednesday the NFL Players’ Association sent the NFL a request for information regarding the DEA’s investigation on Vermillion pertaining to player health and safety.
Washington’s safety and union representative Landon Collins said Vermillion was a huge help in him recovering from a torn Achilles but had no issues with the NFLPA’s request for information.
Unlike Vermillion, Quon did not have ties to the Carolina Panthers. Instead, Quon was a holdover from the previous Washington coaching staff. This year is his eighth with the team.
