Chiefs march 95 yards for opening-drive TD against Washington

After the Washington Football Team’s offense went three-and-out to start the game, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs answered. The Chiefs marched 95 yards on 10 plays, culminating the drive with a Darrel Williams two-yard touchdown run.

Tress Way booted a 66-yard punt out of bounds at the five-yard line. But the Chiefs wasted no time getting down the field.

Mahomes was 5-of-6 passing for 81 yards on the drive. His lone completion was a huge missed opportunity for the Washington defense.

Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill slipped at the start of his route. The pass to Hill went right through the hands of Washington cornerback Kendall Fuller for what could have been a drive-ending interception.

The Chiefs also converted a 4th-and-1 with Williams, who sprinted five yards for the first down.

Mahomes then found tight end Joe Fortson, who made an amazing catch back shoulder over safety Landon Collins.

Washington’s defense has struggled mightily this season on opening drives.

They can add a 95-yard touchdown drive to the resume.
