WFT co-CEO Tanya Snyder reportedly apologized to NFL owners for aftermath of investigation

The NFL’s investigation into the toxic workplace culture of the Washington Football Team has been one of the biggest headlines during the league’s owners’ meetings in New York. On Wednesday, Washington’s co-CEO Tanya Snyder, the wife of owner Dan Snyder, apologized to owners for the firestorm created by the investigation.

While New York Jets owner Woody Johnson brush off questions of the investigations saying “we’re here for football,” the owners reportedly broached the topic in their meetings.

According to ESPN’s Seth Wickersham, Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis brought up the league’s handling of the investigation to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The conversation prompted Tanya Snyder to apologize to the room.

Davis, who accepted Jon Gruden’s resignation after emails from 2011 showed that the coach had used racist, anti-gay and misogynistic language, asked Goodell why he had learned of the emails only right before they were made public.

Although Davis didn’t accuse Goodell of leaking the emails, Goodell told the room that the league wasn’t behind the leak. And Tanya Snyder, wife of WFT owner Dan Snyder, apologized to the room that the league has suffered as a result of the investigation.

In July, Tanya Snyder took over day-to-day operations of the Washington Football Team from her husband. The change in control occurred shortly after the findings into the investigation into the team was verbally delivered to the league.

Washington was fined $10 million as well. Meanwhile, the league denies Snyder was suspended and his stepping back to concentrate on other matters was voluntary.

On Tuesday, Goodell said he believes Dan Snyder “has been held accountable.”

Despite Washington being the target of the investigation, the Raiders lost their head coach in the aftermath. Davis has expressed his frustration over the handling and even stated he believes there should have been a written report of the findings of the investigation.
