Washington offensive tackle Cornelius Lucas has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos with an illness. Lucas is not traveling with the team to Denver.
Lucas started the last two games at right tackle, replacing the injured rookie Sam Cosmi. Cosmi will also miss Sunday’s game with an ankle injury.
Second-year pro Saahdiq Charles is expected to start at right tackle for Washington. Charles has only played six offensive snaps since being selected in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft.
The right side of Washington’s offensive line has taken hits with injuries this season. All-Pro right guard Brandon Scherff has missed the past three games with an MCL sprain. He is considered a game-time decision against the Broncos.
Wes Schweitzer would start in place of Scherff if he isn’t able to go.
To bolster their offensive line’s depth, Washington elevated center Keith Ismael and tackle David Steinmetz from the practice squad.
