Fans in attendance at FedEx Field and those watching on television to Sunday’s game will notice a couple of changes to the playing field. The Washington Football Team has added their “W” logo to the 50-yard line.
The logo replaces the NFL shield. It’s the first game their new logo will be on display on the field since the team’s name changed from the Redskins to the Washington Football Team.
In addition to the logo addition, Washington has altered their end zones. Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is Washington’s Salute to Service game.
“Washington Football Team est. 1932” in both end zones have been painted in camouflage.
Teams around the league recognize and publicly honor military services between a selected timeframe. Each team also nominates a member of their organization for the annual Salute to Service award. Washington nominated head coach Ron Rivera for the honor this season.
