Sean Taylor’s brother seals win with INT on anniversary of his passing

Rice freshman safety Gabe Taylor sealed Saturday’s win over Louisiana Tech with a game-clinching interception. The pick was Taylor’s third of the 2021 season. But it will presumably be his most memorable of his football career.

Gabe is the younger brother of Sean Taylor. Saturday marked the 14th anniversary of Sean Taylor’s death. The former Washington Football Team and Miami Hurricanes star died one day after being shot in his femoral artery during an attempted burglary at his Florida home.

Looks aren’t the only striking resemblance Gabe has with Sean. Gabe Taylor has followed in his late brother’s footsteps. He wears the No. 26 like Sean did while playing for the U. He also has been a ball hawk like Sean.

Against Louisiana Tech, Taylor had five tackles, including one for a loss, along with his interception.

Following Rice’s 35-31 win, Taylor reacted to his clutch interception.

Gabe was previously named Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week back on October 25th. He’s also been named Frisco Bowl Defensive Player of the Week this season.
