Montez Sweat return from IR delayed by COVID-19

The Washington Football Team placed Montez Sweat on the reserve/COVID-19 list, delaying his expected return to practice from a broken jaw.

Sweat tested positive for COVID-19 and will have to be out at least 10 days because he is unvaccinated. He spent the past four weeks on injured reserve with a fractured jaw. But, he was set to return to practice this week.

Now he is effectively out for Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys. He’ll be eligible to be activated on Dec. 18 a day before Washington plays the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 15.

Washington is on a four-game win streak, winning each game while Sweat was out. The defense has remarkably played well despite being without Montez Sweat and fellow stud pass rusher Chase Young, who is out for the season with a torn ACL.

But his return will be more than welcomed. Despite missing the last four games, Sweat remains second on the team in sacks with four.
