Washington guard Brandon Scherff going on reserve/COVID-19 list

The Washington Football Team could be without its all-pro right guard for Tuesday’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Brandon Scherff will be placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, according to the Athletic’s Ben Standig

The addition of Scherff comes after the NFL postponed the WFT-Eagles game from Sunday until Tuesday due to the COVID-19 outbreak within Washington. Scherff becomes the 24th different player placed on the list in the span of two weeks.

Washington got back four players Saturday, including defensive tackle Jonathan Allen and defensive end Monte Sweat. Defensive tackle Matt Ioannidis is expected to be activated Monday from the COVID-19 list.

Washington’s top-2 quarterbacks, starter Taylor Heinicke and backup Kyle Allen are among the players on the COVID-19 list. Their availability still remains in question a day before the game.

The postponement of the game was expected to give the team a window of getting players back. Unfortunately, they’re adding a key player in Scherff to list one day before the game.
